FEDERAL MASK MANDATE CASES

Contact Us Today

The coronavirus pandemic resulted in federal, state, and local governments implementing a variety of measures meant to stop the virus from spreading. One such measure has been mandatory mask requirements for citizens, which has led to numerous lawsuits challenging city ordinances and company policies alike related to mask mandates. While the legality of mandatory mask-wearing is still developing, one issue that has come into play is when government actors fail to protect and respect constitutional rights.

If you or a loved one has been affected by a federal mask mandate, it is important to seek legal counsel. At Murphy & Price LLP, our federal defense lawyers are dedicated to protecting the rights of our clients. We understand that in times of crisis, government actors can often fail to respect constitutional rights. That is why we work tirelessly to make sure our clients' voices are heard in federal court. The Nature of Mask Mandates

In March of 2020, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released guidelines recommending that Americans wear cloth face masks in public settings where social distancing measures are difficult to maintain. Since then, mask mandates have been enacted at the federal, state, and local levels in an effort to stop the spread of the virus. These mandates can take the form of executive orders, health regulations, or laws enacted by state and local legislatures.

Colorado Springs Mask Mandates

Currently, the City of Colorado Springs does not have a current mask mandate in place. However, since the beginning of the pandemic, Colorado Springs implemented a series of mask-wearing requirements and recommendations that have changed over time. For example, the City had previously issued a public health order requiring face coverings in indoor public spaces. However, this order was rescinded after the state of Colorado lifted its own statewide mask mandate.
El Paso, Fremont, and Teller counties may have different procedures and regulations in place regarding mask mandates so be sure to stay up-to-date on the latest developments in your county.

Understanding Your Constitutional Rights

The United States Constitution protects citizens from government overreach. One way the Constitution does this is by guaranteeing certain rights, such as the right to free speech and the right to practice one's religion freely. When government actors, such as law enforcement officers or state legislators, try to infringe on these rights, it is important to seek legal counsel.
